RCMP Seize Pirated Compact Disks, Video Games and DVDs

SHERBROOKE, Friday, October 28, 2005 - On Tuesday, Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers conducted a search in Sherbrooke,
putting an end to the illicit activities of a 25-year-old man involved in the illegal production and distribution of compact disks, video games
and movies in DVD format.

More than 300 compact disks, 150 X-Box games and 140 DVDs, all pirated, were seized during the search. Officers also seized equipment

and distributing infringing copies of copyright works under the Copyright Act.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Enforcement Section of the RCMP Sherbrooke Detachment, which is responsible for enforcing
federal statutes regarding copyright, trade marks and radiocommunication. The police officers working in this section
investigate cases of illegal
reproduction and distribution of works protected by law.
