PIRATED DVDs SIZED BY THE RCMP AT THE ST-TITE WESTERN FESTIVAL
Drummondville, Friday, September 15, 2006 – Last Tuesday, officers of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police conducted a search in Saint-Tite, which enabled them to put an end to the illegal activities of a 32-year-old male subject involved in the unauthorized distribution of movies in DVD format. The search, made at a booth located on the grounds of the Western Festival, led to the seizure of 407 pirated DVDs.

The Gatineau resident was arrested and questioned by officers of the Centre-du-Québec–Mauricie Detachment. He is likely to be summoned to appear in court in a near future to face charges under the Copyright Act.
It should be noted that the illegal sale of DVDs and other counterfeit goods accounts for losses of millions of dollars annually.
